I don't normally give five-star reviews for books only because I don't believe there are perfect books out there, but this one deserves at least a four-star and a whole bunch. Before reading this book I thought I had dabbled in crime fiction, but I had gotten about halfway through when I realised, I know nothing. Not always the most sought after of emotions, but it gave me a chance to start learning from this book instead of merely reading for pleasure (because, let's be honest, the author snippets at the beginning of the chapters really helped me see what I needed to do as a writer and also gave me some new authors to read!) It is now my go-to on my bookshelf whenever my writing weekends hit a brick wall and its helped me shape my crime fiction story, turning my lazy writing into well-researched action!A writer never stops learning, but at least there are amazing books out there like this one that will both make it fun and, at the end of the day, show results.
